HumanWorks Affiliates, Inc. (HWA) is a provider of group home services to foster children and adults with disabilities. HWA is a $25 million corporation with 350 employees spanning 200+ miles across the eastern regions of Pennsylvania. 

Challenges:

A fragmented employee health screening process caused issues relating to the speed and organization of onboarding new hires.

  • HWA was leveraging multiple vendors (Concentra, urgent care centers, etc.) across their 200+ mile footprint to complete their new hire health assessments.
  • In their use of various vendors to complete this process, HWA was required to maintain these documents in-house, resulting in more work for the HR team & a left greater margin for error in their employee onboarding efforts. 

Low employee retention rates & high call-out numbers were cause for unnecessary onboarding expenses and unsatisfied employees.

  • If an employee wasn't feeling well, they were forced to take the entire day off to visit an urgent care center to receive treatment.
  • Under the mandate set by the Affordable Care Act, HWA is required to offer employees some form of health coverage. HWA offers health benefits to their employees, but many choose to opt-out of HWA's health plan due to cost.

In addition to managing their documents, HWA leverages our employer dashboard to schedule on-demand clinics, keep employees' records up-to-date via our compliance tracking feature, which notifies a representative from HWA when one of their employee's health records requires renewal. 

By partnering with Vitable, HWA has increased its onboarding efficiency by over 70%, cutting down the time to onboard new hires from over three weeks to one.
